LANGUAGE ART MOVEMENT ACTIVITIES
1. Cheering Words
This is great for learning spelling words or word wall words. Teacher shows student an exercise they will do for each letter. For example, students will spell the word "play" "P-L-A-Y spells play and a jumping jack for each letter.
2. Write the Room:
Post spelling words or word wall words around the room. With a clipboard and a paper, students will walk around the room writing the words onto their paper.
3. Word Relay
This one might work better in a larger area. Put letters onto post it notes on one side of the room on the wall. These letters need to make words that you want the students to spell. Divide the students into groups. Send students to grab letters, when they have all the letters they need. As a group they will spell words with the letters.
4. 5 Minute Fairy Tales
Students are given 5 minutes to create a well known fairy tale into a 60 second skit or monologue. This can also be done with students' story as a way to present their ideas to the class.
